I have heard the story of Joseph in Egypt many times as a kid, I have read it multiple times as an adult, but reading today I got so much out of it that I hadn't in the past.
Right before reading this morning I listened to a podcast talking about forgiveness. She spoke about the difference of forgiveness and reconciliation. I can almost hear the pain of Joseph wanting to talk to his brother, but he holds off and tests them. Not because he isn't sure if he can forgive, but because he needs to know if they have changed so that he can reconcile the relationship.
Once he knows he can trust them he breaks down in tears and cries so loudly it can be heard throughout his home by the servants that were sent out.
I want to forgive those in my life now so that when the opportunity for reconciliation comes I am ready and willing.
